    Saddleback Mountain History

In the six decades since the first T-Bar started spinning, a lot has changed at Saddleback. And while every ski mountain has its own history, we think it’s pretty safe to say that few have experienced quite so many twists and turns as ours.

For three years running, we couldn’t be more thankful that @downeastmagazine readers have named us Maine’s Best Ski Mountain—and we think it’s because Saddleback is more than just a mountain. It’s community, it’s soul, it’s sunrise uphilling, powder days, and après at the Pub with the best kind of people.

If you’ve felt the magic of this place, you know exactly what we mean. Let’s rally, Saddlebackers—cast your vote and help us bring it home again!

In just a few weeks, join us up in the clouds at The Nest for a special mountaintop brunch during the Rangeley Birding Festival, presented in partnership with @rangeleyheritagetrust. It’s your chance to brunch with whoever you want—feathered or otherwise—at 3,620 feet.

On the menu? Think warm cinnamon buns with maple icing, crème brûlée French toast, biscuits & gravy, and more. You don’t have to be a birder to enjoy this one—just bring your appetite and maybe a pair of binoculars’

Behind every great day at Saddleback is a tight-kn Behind every great day at Saddleback is a tight-knit community that runs on seasonal workers, small businesses, and a whole lot of hustle. Saddleback House was built to help make that hustle a little easier for us.

Local businesses: Need help with seasonal staffing, housing, or workforce support this summer? We’ve got you! Join us tomorrow for an open house to learn more.

After two seasons of housing our own winter crew, we’re opening Saddleback House this summer to support other local businesses with staffing, housing, and transportation solutions to and from your workplace.

Whether you’re short on employee housing, interested in navigating J-1 or H2B hiring, or just need more boots on the ground—you don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re here to help guide you through it—whether that means logistical support, workforce coaching, or simply being a reliable partner and resource.

Join us at the Saddleback House tomorrow, May 6th, 5:30–7:00 PM. 11 Caddis Lane, Sandy River, ME 04970.

The lifts might not be spinning, but the work to build a stronger community never stops! We hope to see you tomorrow.

Surprise—early-bird pricing is BACK! If you miss Surprise—early-bird pricing is BACK! If you missed yesterday’s deadline, this is your last chance to lock in the best deal and the best benefits of the year for a 25/26 season pass.

Because nothing stings like snow FOMO. The mountain’s firing on all cylinders and you’re… stuck behind a snowplow, digging out your car, or trapped in a Zoom call. Whatever held you back—we get it. That’s why we’re giving you one last chance to get in on the goods.
King of the Mountain is almost here—and we’re King of the Mountain is almost here—and we’re flipping the script. The same trails you bomb down all season? Now they’re the battleground for sleds racing uphill, head-to-head, until a winner is crowned. It’s fast, loud, unlike anything else- and spectator passes are still available.

Hard to believe we’re here already—last chair Hard to believe we’re here already—last chair of the season has come and gone. If you saw someone getting misty-eyed while hugging a lift tower, no you didn’t. This place is more than just a mountain—it’s home, it’s family, it’s where we froze our butts off, got sunburned in March, floated through surprise April powder, leaned into Tightline gusts that nearly took us over, and smiled through more than a few spring rain showers. And somehow, we loved every minute of it.

Next year marks 60 years of Saddleback, and if this season was any clue, the next one’s going to be a banner year. Big plans, big turns, big accumulations and maybe even bigger après. We can’t wait to celebrate how far we’ve come and how much more we have to look forward to. Thanks for being part of this one—we can’t wait to do it all again.
